The group’s rapid success has sparked speculation about its origins, as their social media images and press photos appear to be AI-generated, and little concrete information about the band members – singer and mellotron player Gabe Farrow, guitarist Lennie West, synth player Milo Rains, and percussionist Orion “Rio” Del Mar –  is available beyond their Spotify artist page. The band’s bio is equally evasive: “There’s something quietly spellbinding about The Velvet Sundown. You don’t just listen to them, you drift into them.
