A Virginia family are crediting their survival to Metallica after a truck crashed into their home on May 6, the night before they were set to attend a concert by the heavy metal legends at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg. While speaking with local TV station WDBJ7, Kristin McKee said her husband David and their daughter Madeleine went to bed early to get a good night’s sleep before the show, which turned out to be fortunate as the crash happened in the living room where they usually stayed up late watching TV. “We heard a loud explosion, glass shattered. It was just madness from that point on,” Kristin recalled of the incident, while adding, “We were so fortunate that, that night, my daughter could have walked down that hallway and found us in the rubble. I thank God every day, and Metallica, for saving us.” Their home is currently undergoing repairs, but unfortunately for the big Metallica fans, the car crash ultimately prevented them from attending the concert.
